Tea in our Garden of Love” is another SSDB event which LoveShine Childcare collaborates with communities to teach our children how to make a difference to the community and give back to society.
Our K1 and K2 SSDB agents invited 13 elderly from All Saints Home@Tampines for “Tea in our Garden of Love” on 19 June 2018. About 3 weeks before the event, the teachers engaged the children in pre-visit activities, teaching them about social awareness and the importance of showing love and kindness to elderly. The children participated enthusiastically in the planning of the programmes and setting up of the garden.
All the 13 elderly from All Saints Home arrived punctually on the day of the event. The children gave them a rousing welcome and appaluse as the care-givers wheeled them individually through the beautifully decorated ‘Garden of Love’ set up using a tall canopy tent.
The children performed joyful song and dance items to the elderly, and participated a craft workshop with them to decorate a photo frame. The decorated photo frames with well wishes and pictures specially drawn by the children were presented to the elderly after the workshop.
The children also served tea, sandwiches and fruits to the elderly, and before the end of the event, they played ball games and interacted enthusiastically with the elderly to bring cheers and joy to them!
Well done our LoveShine SSDB agents! Let’s continue to keep sowing love with your little hands!
