As part of our Term 3 Field Trip, the children visited Kok Fah Farm, a trip closely aligned with our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) Project, “Root for The Future”. This enriching experience allowed the children to gain first-hand knowledge of how plants grow and thrive, deepening their connection to the environment.
During the visit, the children were introduced to a variety of vegetables and plants cultivated at the farm. They learned about the different types of produce grown on-site and were excited to discover that the farm not only grows these plants but also sells them to community. This helped the children understand the full cycle of farming — from planting to harvest and eventually to market, giving them an appreciation for the effort and care that goes into producing the food we eat.
Children saw first-hand how innovative techniques, such as hydroponics, are now being used to help the farm increase its efficiency and productivity. This exposure to agricultural technology provided our children with a deeper understanding of how farming can evolve and adapt with advancements in science🔬.
To make the learning experience even more personal, each child was given a plant kit to take home. This allowed them to put their knowledge into practice by growing their own plant at home🪴. By nurturing their plants independently, the children learnt about responsibility and the importance of caring for living things, reinforcing the core messages of environmental stewardship that are central to our SSDB project!
