In March, we decided to create our own mini-garden to let the children learn about the food that we can grown on our own.
We collaborated with Preschool Market and also NParks. The officer from NParks come down to our centre and discussed with us on what plants that are suitable to grow in our garden and where are the places that have adequate sunlight for the plants to grow.
Getting the children involved
We decided to get the children involved by reading the story “The Story Curious Garden” by Peter Brown. The agreed that the city looks better with all the plants growing around the city.Few
The children planted carrot and onion a few months back but sadly it was unsuccessful. The children helped with the transferring of our papaya plants which needed a bigger pot for it to grow.
The K2 decided to plant sunflowers and tomatoes.
Activity Booklet
We expanded our garden to other varieties of plants and we plan to add more plants for the children to explore the different types of plants and flowers. We also have plan to try and grow sweet potatoes in the near future.
