Let’s build our garden together!
In conjunction with the theme, ‘’Caring for others together’, My First Skool @
Woodlands 1(BLk848), aims to inspire children to care for the environment. We want to instil the love for nature and develop responsible individuals for caring for the plants and environment. We would like children to engage in the understanding of cause and effect that nature has on us, and engage in reasoning and discovery of learning about the science of plants, weather and the environment.
On 12 April 2018.we had our SSDB launch ‘party’.Families and children came together to create our own mini garden. Prior to this activity, children and teachers came together to paint recycled boxes .These boxes were donated by the neighbours and they were used to display the terrariums.
Families were involved in creating a terrarium using plants and recycled materials .This created a platform for families, children and school to bond together which created invaluable opportunities to make positive changes to the community in their own small ways.
A big book on recycling and ways to care for the environment was read to children and their families. Children were engaged in a discussion too. Children were provided with cards to write about their terrarium making experiences.
Here are some of the pictures of our SSDB launch party!
