“Love at St Luke’s ElderCare” is another SSDB event which LoveShine Montessori Schoolhouse collaborates with communities to create social awareness among our children. It is timely to explain to the children that the donation to the President’s Challenge from the sale of their craftworks during the recent Family Day charity event is used to help the needy and less fortunate, such as the elderly in eldercare centres.
Before the visit, the teachers engaged the K1 and K2 children in pre-visit activities, teaching them the importance of showing love and kindness to the elderly. The children practised lively song and dance items and presented them to the elderly in St Luke’s ElderCare@Bukit Batok on 20 June 2018. One of the elderly in the Centre was so happy and ‘moved’ by the song that she even stepped forward to join the children in the dancing! 😀
The children also played games and interacted enthusiastically with the elderly to bring cheers and joy to them. Before leaving, the children lovingly presented to every elderly a little gift bag with daily necessities, which they have decorated with their creative drawing and well wishes.
When some elderly were asked to share their feeling about the event, they were very happy and expressed their thanks and appreciation for the effort put up by the children, and even hoped that the children could visit them more often!
What a great encouragement for the children to keep sowing love with their little hands! Way to go, LoveShine SSDB agents!
