One of the activities for our Start Small Dream Big project involves a field trip to Kok Fah Technology Farm for the children to learn more about the growing of plants. The K1 children were engaged in a farm tour where they learnt about the different types of plants through sensorial learning.
The children learnt about the main parts of plants and what plants need for growing. They also experienced the transplanting of basil seedlings through the mini system.
The children used their 5 senses to explore the greenhouse, learn about different types of plants, smell herbs, and feel the soil replacement.
The children also had the opportunity to plant Microgreen seeds and learn how to care for them at home. They discovered that the young plants could grow in 14 days and be harvested and consumed as salad afterwards.
The children enjoyed learning more about plants through the different hands-on activities they were engaged in during their field trip. They look forward to more fun and interesting learning experiences as they delve deeper into their SSDB project on gardening!
