The very last part of our SSDB project ended with a meaningful and beneficial tour to the Kitchen Garden in our neighbourhood. Our children explored a great variety of fruits and vegetables grown there. We had a guided tour of the beautiful garden by the Residential Committee person in charge of the garden. Our children also drew picture cards of plants that they think they may find in the garden and matched them together once they had seen it in the garden.
More importantly, children learnt that our fruits and vegetables do not come in easily, hence we need to appreciate them as it takes a lot of hard work and great effort to harvest them. Our SSDB goal has been achieved as children understood that the importance of sharing our harvest to the needy and elderly who need it more than us.
Back in the classroom, the children documented their last journal entry in the SSDB reflection booklet. They reflected on the whole project and everyone agreed that they had a great learning experience and learnt to love their environment more.
