After the beach clean up activities, the children came up with a list of questions that they had about taking care of the parks. As our centre was situated within a shopping mall, the children went around to ask park goers and our parent volunteers about the different questions that they had.
From that, the children gained insights about the different ways to care for the parks such as ensuring that they are not littering, smoking or plucking the flowers there. Therefore, the children decided to pass on their learnt information to other park goers through the form of a flyer.
The children brainstormed on the design of their flyers and worked together on different parts of the flyers, with some adding decorations, writing or colouring. Later on, the children went around Pasir Ris Park and the school to give out the flyers.
We hope that the children gained valuable information from this experience and will continue to make conscientious efforts to ensure that their surroundings are kept clean. A big thank you to all the park goers who accepted the flyers!
