“Little Mighty Us” - Scent Exploration.
As part of the SSDB project, after the community garden visit, children were intrigued with the scent of smell. They began to share and talk about the various scent encountered at the community garden. Back into the class, in order to extend children’s interests, teacher prepared 7 types of soap made from different plants to provoke children excitement and provide opportunities for children to increase their knowledge on various benefits of plants- for example medical and therapeutic effects on some individuals. Children smelt the soaps and made wild gussess on the plants used to make the soaps. For example, lavender soap is made from lavender plant, orange soap from sweet orange, eucalyptus soap from eucalyptus plants, andother plants. It was tremendously exciting to know that children learnt all the health benefits obtained from these plants and would be able to use them when needs arises. Our next discovery would be to use our knowledge to benefit those people around us. See photos attached and find out more upcoming events going on at GCDC
