For this year’s SSDB project, we have designed a program dedicated to appreciating older generations, particularly grandparents. Teachers will engage children in a series of activities aimed at deepening their understanding of how to express love, care, and concern for their elders. These activities will include storytelling sessions where children learn about their grandparents’ experiences, creative pledge making that symbolize their appreciation, and interactive discussions that encourage empathy and respect for the wisdom of older generations.
We begin our project with storytelling using the book titled “My Favourite Days.” This heartwarming tale illustrates the beautiful bond between a little girl and her grandpa as they embark on a journey of self-discovery together. Through their interactions, children will explore themes of love, family traditions, and the importance of cherishing memories with older generations.
Following the storytelling session, children participated in completing their Star Pledge Making activity. In this engaging exercise, each child will create a personal pledge to show love, care, and concern for their grandparents or older generations. They will express their commitments by writing or drawing on star-shaped templates, highlighting specific actions they plan to take, such as spending quality time together, helping with tasks, or simply sharing stories.
Lastly, the children engaged in various exercise activities designed for them to do alongside their grandparents. These activities will promote physical well-being while strengthening the bond between generations.
