On 17 May 2023, the children of Little Footprints @ Jurong East 248 gathered to officially embark on our new “Start Small Dream Big” project with the community. They had a short sharing on how fun and great to have a community that helps each other. The children also shared who are the members of the community such as the tress, people and animals. During the discussion, they focused more on how animals plays an important role in the community as well. With that as the focus, they watch a short video clip on how animals save or help the people.
“That was amazing!”, “Animals cannot talk but still can save us!” and a lot of “wow” were some of the responses of the children while watching the clips.

Along with that, the children were exposed to how people unconsciously hurt animals such as animals getting stuck on an abandoned net, loose strings, or even a jar. They also saw that dirty environment made the animals sick and hurt.
The children had a simple discussion on how they felt about what happened to the animals and what they can do to help them.
Children went back to their respective classes to have further discussion about the topic. They agree to make a difference and promise to help the animals in their own little way.
The K1 and K2 children pen down their promises and post them on our “SSDB Promise Wall”.
Some of the children promises are: “I will play with them and raise funds for them.” -Hai Jie from K2, “Give them shelter.” - Maverick from K1, “Don’t beat them.” -Evelle from K1, and “If the dog is stuck in the pipe, I will call for help. “ - Gaius from K2.
The Nursery class chose and coloured the animal cut-outs on what they chose to promise.
The Playgroup and Pre-Nursery class had some songs and dance to reiterate the love for animals.
All the children from the respective classes also show their participation by printing their thumbprints on the promise wall as well.
