Our Start Small Dream Big Project 2022: Adopt An Animal- Khansa, the Bornean Orangutan first kick- start in the month of June. Since then, the children were involved and engaged in different related activities such as our jungle-themed Fathers’ Day celebration, our project launch party which featured the virtual learning journey with Ranger Hailee and Ranger Joyce from Mandai Zoo, a virtual zoo trip whereby the children learned about the animals in Wild Africa and many others which the teachers included in their Fun Free Day over the past 3 months with the aim to educate children to deforestation, animals at risk and how we can do our part to save the animals. Research has shown that early exposure to Nature is shown to improve a child’s academic abilities and personal development.
Little Entrepreneur at work: Adoption Drive for
Khansa’ is the title of our project! Hence, after
learning all about orangutans, deforestation, and how we can do our part to save animals at risk, the children sprung into action to prepare for our fundraising! Involvement in fundraising enables children to learn fundamental life skills such as teamwork, creativity, and goal setting. Moreover, it cultivates a giving behavior and creates a sense of community. The children were invited to be creative with mugs and tote bags which are reusable items. The children were also involved in creating posters toraise awareness on International Orangutan Day
which falls on the 19th of August annually.
On 25 August, the aid of Zoom Meet, parents were invited to attend our fundraising awareness, with the N2 to K2 children, live in action, to share what they have been working thus far! Photos of the children at work were shared during the zoom session with parents as well.
