Did you know that there is a day in Singapore designated for advocating kindness? Kindness displayed is the mark of a society’s emotional calibre and it all starts from young.
For learning to be effective, it needs to be relevant. By marrying Champs’ thematic direction of largely animals and SG Kindness Day, the idea to raise funds for vagrant strays through a mini-carnival was born.
For one month, Champs and Teachers pored over the subject of their study and understood more about animals’ characteristics. Teachers guided Champs to see beyond their innately egocentric sphere by sharing about abused and abandoned animals. The founder of this event’s beneficiary even kindly held a talk with our Champs to help them understand the works of the animal shelter and that brought Champs’ understanding to a whole new level.
Once this awareness was evoked, the rest flowed naturally as Teachers mooted the idea of the mini-carnival to Champs. Young hands found themselves being fulfillingly engaged by creating craft works, prepared game stalls and even baked cookies for sale. Everyone from our youngest to the oldest pitched in to bring this idea to fruition.
Parents actively participated by showing up in person to celebrate the moment of learning with their Champs and even donated generously to our charity drive. Champs’ hard work garnered a total of $1447.75 which was eventually gifted to Animal Lovers League.
