On 3 April this year, our K1 and K2 children celebrated the launch of their “Start Small Dream Big” Kindness Project 2017, where they planted carrot seeds in hopes of harvesting carrots to feed them to the horse living at Seletar Farmway Resort.
That was the only animal farm that accepted externally grown vegetables; specifically carrots. However, due to unsuitable soil and weather conditions the carrot seeds were not able to grow as intended leaving the children very disappointed.
As this kindness project was an original idea by the children – to harvest vegetables and feed them to the animals, we did not wish to change the direction of what they had started. That marked the start of our hunt for a vegetable farm and an animal community that would partner us in realising the children’s project.
We are so happy to share that our children have finally completed their project today, just in the nick of time!
Special thanks to Kok Fah Technology Farm who partnered with us for our Day 1 external initiative yesterday!
Yesterday, our K1 and K2 children harvested 5 different types of vegetables! Red Oat, Green Coral, Butterhead, Red Spinach and Radish!
This experience gave them a glimpse into how hard farmers work. Not just to harvest but produce good crops in order to make a living and fill our bellies with food!
With the animals (they will be feeding these vegetables to tomorrow) at the back of their minds, the children were all smiles. The hard work, heat and dirt could not get them down!
