Singapore World Water Day falls on 22 March 2021 but we celebrated throughout the month. We conducted water-centric activities a day each week in the month of March.
We incorporated the resources which provided by PUB into our SWWD lesson plans.
On 22 March 2021, children and staffs dressed up in blue for the SWWD Event.
Activities for Week 1 :
“The theme for World Water Day 2021 is “Climate Change and Water Security”.”
“We have a new friend coming today, she is Water Wally’s sister - Water Sally.”
“Let’s recall what are the 5 water-saving tips.”
Teacher was reading “All Water is Mine” story to children.
“I want to catch “wash clothes on full load” which is a saving water action.”
Activities for Week 2 :
“You can ask your parents to register for “Join Water Wally and Sally Club.”
Children were engaged in “Bringing Water to Terry” story.
“Turn, turn, turn off the tap…”
“The Pipes and Drains game is so fun.”
“Now is my turn to play “Let’s Go Save Water” game.”
Activities for Week 3 :
“What are the ways to prevent water pollution?”
Children were enjoying “Saving Caleb” story.
Children participated in Water Rationing Activity which they washed their hands using 500ml water.
“We are wearing our Water Sally headgear.”
Activities for Week 4 on 22 March 2021 :
“We are reciting “I Save” Plege.”
The teacher was demonstrating the process of getting rice water which children use for watering the plants.
“Let me show you how to install this water canister and dispensers, as well as the user guide of handling it.”
Children were taking turn to drink NEWater and share how does it taste.
“We are Water Droplets, we would like to remind you to turn off the tap with “Turn Off The Tap” song.”
“Do we look like a water droplet ?”
Children were decorating their water droplets with water saving tips.
Take-Home Acitivity - “Water Champion Activity”
“Hooray, I gained 8 water droplets !”
