During the month of August, we celebrated the biggest event of the year, our ‘National Day’! 😃
Dressed in red and white attire for the day, children were introduced as to how ‘Singapura’ got its name by watching short video clips about Sang Nila Utama, and our core leaders who made Singapore what it is today (Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Mr Goh Chok Tong).
Teachers also took the opportunity to describe and explain the significance of the ‘National Flag’; from colours (red, white) to the shapes representations (crescent moon and five stars).
After which, children were invited to sing and dance to the theme song of this year’s National Day, ‘Stronger Together’. We wish the nation to be more resilient and stronger together, in the truest sense; in managing any crisis or problems which may arise in the future.
Following that, we brought the children for a neighbourhood walk while waving their flags proudly and singing along to the past theme songs. They were also encouraged to visit the booths outside of our ‘Main Bay’; which displayed the creations of our children in regards to the popular/famous food & landmarks in Singapore such as ‘Changi Airport’, ‘Gardens by the Bay’, ‘Marina Bay Sands’, ‘Merlion’, ‘Nasi Lemak’, ‘Satay’, ‘Popiah’ and many more.
Here’s to a stronger nation; Majulah Singapura! 🇸🇬💪
