Time flies and we have almost come to the end of the our SSDB project. Children from all levels created a flower and distributed to the people in the neighbourhood during environmental walk. This activity aims to show kindness towards various people in our community and to let then feel we appreciate them, regardless of how big or small their roles are in our diverse society. Giving something to someone gives us happiness, a positive emotion that is good for our health. Also, children from N2 to K1 went for an outdoor picnic in conjunction of the theme “Fruits and Vegetables”. Teachers started off reading the stories. The children were attentive and responsive during the storytelling session. Children took out their own snacks and shared some of the fruits they had with their friends (e.g. oranges, grapes) . To conclude, children had a great picnic experience with their friends and were looking forward for the next picnic activity.
Children greeted the elderly people, the cleaner, the grab driver and even the school cleaners and gave them flowers they have made.
N2 and K1 children went for an outdoor picnic. They enjoyed eating their snacks while looking at the greenery view, the clouds that formed in different sizes/shapes/ formed something, birds and aeroplane that flew over, and trains/buses/cars that can be seen from a distance.
As a result, children felt rejuvenated, relaxed, and cheerful. Therefore, we will incorporate outdoor picnic into our lesson activity.
