Children learn best from first hand experience! And thatâs what happened to our Thinkerstar children as they witnessed the much awaited day for us to plant our beloved tree just outside our Centre! Isnât that awesome? We have our own Tree! đ The children called it âThinkerstar Treeâ But in fact that tree is âGelam Tikusâ which can grow up to 10 M tall
The tree planting was in collaboration with the National Park for Biodiversity Week for schools and to support our SSDB project âSpread Awareness to Zero Food Wasteâ which aimed to save the Earth and for children to learn how to care in their environment
After doing the storytelling to our dear children about the âGiving Treeâ, the children watched the whole process of planting the tree:
The man helped us dig a hole in the soil mix
And cut out the base of the bag of the tree and placed it upright into the hole
The man also shoveled the excavated soil back into the hole and our Thinkerstar children helped to put the compost (fertilizer)Â
They even helped out to water the plant right away!
What an amazing hands on experience for everybody!
