Our school partnered with the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) for this year’s SSDB. The SDSC is the national sports body for Persons with Disabilities.
Besides providing platforms for learning sport, SDSC trains talents to represent Singapore at regional and international competitions. Their success stories include Jason Chee, former para table tennis player and ASEAN Para Games gold medallist, and Yip Pin Xiu, Singapore’s first Paralympic gold medallist.
To show our support for our Singapore Paralympians as they represent our country in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games (from 24 Aug - 5 Sep, 2021), our students took part in the Im’possible Celebation campaign, consisting of activities such as obstacle buddy race, creative cheer and colouring competition.
We were also very honored to have Ms Syahidah Alim (Singapore’s first para-archer) to conduct an interactive storytime exclusively for our K2 students.
Syahidah was born with cerebral palsy 36 years ago and a life in a wheelchair beckoned. However, she learnt to defy her limitations and defeat the odds. Her inspiring life story talks about important values such as perseverance and determination.
