The children learned about what an essential worker does, the things he/she do and why they were especially important during this COVID 19 pandemic.
The children identified that the two of the essential workers that were close to their hearts, were our cleaners. As the children reflected on what the aunties do in school, they shared that our Cleaners are extremely important and had worked very hard for them and the school.
To show their appreciation, the children worked together and created a handprint craft bouquet of flowers. They also wrote a heart felt note of gratitude for the cleaners and attached it to their bouquet of flowers. Finally, they presented the bouquets to our cleaners and expressed that they loved the aunties and thanked the aunties for keeping them away from germs.
K1 Respect - “We love you because you wipe the classroom. It makes the classroom clean. You keep us safe! Thank you Aunty Ani.”
K1 Love - “We love you. We want to hug you. Thank you for cleaning the toilet and the school. You have done a good job!”
