18th April 2019 - SSDB Launch Party. Parents, children and staff participated in the activities commemorating the launch of the SSDB project.
The children did an unboxing of the wonderful resources received and they loved their bright orange hats!
âSort Meâ booth
The children rated this as their favourite booth. They had to stand a distance from the trash and the recycle bins (made from cardboard boxes). The next step was to toss the beanbags into the opening of the recycle and trash bins. Pictures of items such as newspapers, plastic bottles, cd etc were placed onto the beanbags. The children had to decide if the item on the beanbag should be recycled or tossed into the trash bin. The objective of the game - Children will be able to sort items into âtrashâ and ârecycleâ.Â
âClean Upâ booth. Children had to sort trash found on a classroom floor into three different recycling bins (metal, plastic and paper).
This was the only time where the children found this much trash in their classroom! They were given a minute to pick up as many trash as they could and sort them into their respective bins. The objective of the game- Children will be able to recognize and identify trash according to their materials.
âStar Promisesâ Parents and their children used the star cards provided to pen down their thoughts and promises to Mother Earth.
â3D Recycle Projectsâ Recycled items collected over the months were gathered and used in making beautiful and creative 3D art pieces.
Parents and children worked together to create 3D art pieces such as monsters, pencil holders and photo frames using recycled items. Paints, coloured markers, pencils, scissors, glue and fabric were provided to beautify these projects.
This activity encouraged bonding amongst teachers, children and parents.
