Zero Waste, the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and materials without threatening the environment or human health. Nursery 2s of PFW embarked on a journey to explore the concept of zero waste! To kickstart their learning journey, children brainstormed their KWL where they discussed their prior knowledge and wonders.
Children were introduced to various ways they can practice zero waste through making their own compose using vegetables and fruits scraps with soil. Children were also engaged in games like sorting things that can be compost and things that cant. Other than making their own compost, children remade papers using used papers.
Through this project, children learnt the importance and impact of zero waste in their daily lives to help save the earth. Children worked hand in hand with the k1s and contributed to the society by advocating all that they learnt in school through awareness walks and through making fertilisers (composed vegetables and fruit scraps) for the K1s to use to grow their spring onions. The spring onions were given to the community as part of staying connected and making a difference in the community.
