On 10 June 2017, Pat’s Schoolhouse Tanglin and Prinsep, carried out Thankful Feet Charity Walk in conjunction with Father’s Day celebration. More than 400 enthusiastic children together with their Grandparents, Parents and their teachers gathered at Marina Barrage for flag off at 0730hrs for a 3.5km walk. Thankful Feet walk aimed at promoting healthy living, family bonding and lending a helping hand to those in need.
We walked for Singapore Cancer Society, a beneficiary of President’s Challenge and Singapore Children’s Foundation, collaborated with Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) in Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) initiative. It aims at bringing the early childhood sector together to inculcate the value of community service in our little ones. Children are never too young to do good. Community projects provides an authentic and meaningful platform for children to use their abilities to serve others. Through this project, our children learn about social responsibility, empathy and compassion for others.
Along the walk, we played 4 father-child bonding games. Through the games, Daddies learnt to trust their little ones, collaborate with them to think out of the box to solve problems and the little ones learnt to care for their fathers even when they are so little! The walk ended with a 3-legged race to the finishing line!
Funds were raised from registration donations. We would like to thank all parents for their kind donations. Special thanks to Passion Kites for sponsoring kites and Mr Tan Boon Yeow for sponsoring mineral water and bananas. Together we raised more than $8000!
Happy Father’s Day!
Giving together,
Team Tanglin and Prinsep
