On 5th July 2021 (Monday), our children and teachers embarked on another project SSDB: Our Mini Food Bank Project: Sharing is Caring. (This project is also in line with our Kindness Programme- giving back to the community)
We discussed with the children as to what this project is all about. It’s about giving back to the community. If before we used to visit the old folks @St. Luke’s Elder Care, we can’t do it now due to the measures in place since COVID19.
We were heartened when the parents (even our ex students parents and outsider) were willing to take part in our project and they themselves begun to donate items for the project.
Even our kids from the toddler’s class participated in our project. Thus daily we will placed the items on the table that we placed outside our centre.
By the next morning usually the whole table will be emptied and we will replenished more items on the table taken from our indoor stocks (donated items)
We tried to place a variation of any items that we have in stocks.
Donated items are usually items such as : rice, noodles, Maggie mee, sardines, tuna, sugar, coffee, tea, any can food, drinks, milk, biscuits etc.
Every morning we tried to place more items on the table with the help of our kids. The children are very excited to learn that most of the items that we placed daily were taken by those that are in need. ❤️
We are almost a month into this project and we felt that the children are learning about a lot of emotions especially on empathy, giving, sharing and also what kindness is all about.
The older ones are able to understand the Sharing is Caring project better. This project will be an on-going till year end we hope (the least we will do is 3 months)
The children had consistently bringing in food donations to replenish our stocks. Thank you everyone 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️♥️
