Our superheroes from LFP@ Bukit Purmei excitedly donned on their orange hats for SSDB launching . We are greatly honoured to be a part of the SSDB community .
We started the launch on 13 April 2023 by introducing the SSDB theme- ‘ Many Helping Hands, Caring for Everyone ‘ to our children in order to instill the spirit of giving and values.
We chose the category ‘ Caring for our Environment ‘ where our main focus will be on Recycling. We put more emphasis on the importance of 3 R’s - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and how as children they could apply them in their daily lives.
The Nursery class collected the recycle items donated by the parents and put them in the recycle box in school. The K1’s and K2’s started off by singing and dancing to the official SSDB song. They took part in an interesting game where they have to identify various recyclable items and sort them accordingly into their correct baskets with labels- paper, plastic and metal .Children cheered for their peers while engaged in the game.
The next activity got them involved in making a 2D Earth model where the K2’s wrote a pledge to save the Mother Earth and the K1’s painted their hands to create imprints around the Earth. The K2’s came up with pledges like ‘ Say NO to plastic bags, share rides with the family, put trash into correct recyclable bins ‘ etc.
Last but not the least, the children gave a thumbs up to each other for a successful SSDB launching .
