On 23rd May 2022, our Kindergarten 1 students launched our Start Small Dream Big Project. Our theme for this year is ‘Appreciating Families’. Children were introduced to what is Start Small Dream Big, they were shown a video by ECDA Singapore about SSDB 2022. Children get to see different ways we can appreciate our family members through care and concern. It does not only talk about families but it shows how we can appreciate our friends and others. Through this video, our Kindergarten 1s get an idea on what to expect.
We did unboxing of the package that we receive. Children were so excited and curious about the resources we get to initiate our project. They took the hat to start the initiation and began to look at the other resources. Once we are done unboxing and watched the launch video, we discuss on what we could do to show appreciation to our family members. K1s mentioned that we should make a card for every family member such as parents, grandparents and siblings. We even talked about elderlies who are staying at old folks homes; we would want to do something for them to show that we care as they are part of our family.
After our discussion, children had the opportunity to record down their feelings and thoughts about what we our project is about at the SSDB journal. This is where the children share how they can show that they love, care and appreciate their families. It was a great experience and eye opener to see that our Kindergarten 1s are invested to show appreciation towards their family members. We also believe that everything starts from us, which relates to the saying said in the video “No one can do everything but everyone can do something”. We are all ready to show how much we love and care about our families!
