As our SSDB Project: ‘Stewards of the Environment’ progressed, the children were actively engaged in activities to learn and understand the importance of sustainability and recycling efforts.
In one such activity, children learnt about the route of the recyclables they put in the recycling bin with information sourced from a video by the NEA. Based on the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle) they learnt, the children were involved in identifying which materials they could recycle, reduce or reuse.
The teachers guided the children to make some crafts using the materials they had identified as recyclable; such as musical shakers using Yakult/Vitagen bottles and to fold origami paper boxes from scrap paper to hold food scraps.
