On 18 May 2021, the K1 classes at 670 Edgefield Plains launched the SSDB Project. We talked about the importance of reaching out to others and that their little ways of spreading care can make a big difference to others. The children learnt about the community we are going to collaborate with, the modern heroes - healthcare workers. They talked about the activities that we are going to do to show appreciation and gratitude for all their hard work and sacrifices during this period.
The children watched a video about the struggles of nurses in taking care of the patients in the hospitals. They shared their feelings and thoughts about the video and cited their little ways on what they can do to bring kindness to them. Some of them said to give them free food, hug them, say ‘thank you’ to them, or just simply talk nicely to them. The children received their SSDB kits and were introduced to the activities that we are going to do all throughout this project to reach out to the nurses of Sengkang General Hospital. They also coloured the keychain and did the first part of their SSDB journal. They had a photo taking session at the end of the launch.
The children are looking forward to their presentation for the ‘Nurse Day’, the keychain making, and the ‘love box project’ that they are going to prepare with their parents.
