ZBK is into the third year of participation in the SSDB project. This year, our theme is “PLANTING SEEDS OF KINDNESS” - Caring for the Community. Through this SSDB project, we hope to inculcate in our children the values of being caring, kind and compassionate towards our community.
We will be collaborating with our parents and our next-door neighbour, Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled, for this year’s SSDB project - “Hydroponic Vegetable Planting”. The parents have generously contributed towards the cost of the seedlings of the hydroponic vegetables (Bayam) and the K1 and K2 children will be involved in the planting and harvesting of the vegetables. After harvesting, the vegetables will be donated to the residents of Bishan Home for their consumption.
In the month of July, ZBK embarked on our SSDB journey with a simple launch in the K1 and K2 classrooms. The children viewed the “SSDB 2020 Launch Video” and discussed ways which we could show love and care to our community and help those in need. The children also watched an introductory video on the residents at Bishan Home and another video on hydroponic vegetable planting.
We certainly look forward to this meaningful project as we work together with the children, parents and teachers to care for our community amidst this pandemic.
