For this year’s Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) Project, the children from Skool4Kidz @ Tampines Greenleaf were involved in an art auction in their efforts in a food pack charity event. The art pieces and artworks were done by group of children from infant to kindergarten 2.
The artworks are sold in exchange for a grocery item for instance: a pack of 5kg rice.
The items packed in the 50 IKEA bags are as follows:
-
A pack of 5 kg rice
-
3 cans of sardines
-
1 pack of MILO
-
1/2 dozen of packet drink
-
3 bottled water
-
A tin of biscuit
-
3 packs of mixed nuts
-
A small bottle of oil
-
A small bottle of instant coffee
During the packing process, the children from Kindergarten 1 and 2 assisted in ensuring all items were equally distributed. A total of 20 bags were packed for two organisation:
-
Christian Outreach to the Handicap
-
MWS Family Service Centre
The organisation were led under our collaboration with SG Cares Movement by MCCY.
Involving the children in this initiative has enabled them to be involved in the whole process and provided them with the opportunity to contribute their strength and time for a good cause.
A total of 30 food packs were also distributed in conjunction with the month of Ramadan. A few parent-volunteers assisted and distributed the food packs to the families of a block in Tampines East. With the partnership and collaboration with PA Association @ Tampines East, we managed to reach out to the families in need and shared the joy of giving to them too. Through this initiative, the children have gained insights and understanding on the living conditions of others. Furthermore, being able to contribute to the community through their own means and efforts.
As a whole, this project has enabled different age groups, stakeholders and various organisations to be a part of this wholesome charity event. The collaborative efforts from children has inspired them to realise that they are indeed capable of helping others and ways on how the can contribute to the society.
