In conjunction with the project on ‘Singapore Little Treasures, we collaborate with the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall and partnership with parent volunteers to enrich the understanding of Chinese Heritage for children of K2.
During the trip to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, engaging and purposeful heritage pop-up kits were used to support their learning.
The children had basic introduction on Dr. Sun Yat Sen who chose Singapore as the centre of his revolutionary movement in Southeast Asia, and Teo Eng Hock who offered the Wan Qing Yuan villa to Dr. sun to support his revolutionary activities and Lim Nee Soon.
In school, children were exposed deeper on rubber tree plantation. With the set up of the rubber tress, they were introduced to rubber harvesting tools, rubber-tapping technique and how rubber farmers of early days relied on this skill to earn a living in early days of Singapore.
Parent volunteers supported children’s learning through their participation by sharing on rubber plantation.
Together, we worked with parents volunteers and community, involved in introducing Chinese Heritage to the children.
We encourage children to put themselves in the shoes of those with different histories and culture, to stay connected with all.
With the above, we are working towards a more empathic and cohesive society.
