Waterways Watch Society Excursion Story: In connection with our centre’s Start Small Dream Big theme, “Go Green”, our N2 children together with some parent volunteers and teachers visited Waterways Watch Society to boost children’s environmental awareness. The environmental awareness presentations cover water and environmental issues such as climate change, responsible water usage, water scarcity, the causes and impacts of pollution, the four National Taps, the Singapore Water Story, Zero Waste, the 8Rs, ending with taking ownership and how to take personal action to combat these issues to achieve a sustainable environment for our future. The programme starts with an interactive story-telling session introducing environmental topics such as pollution and sustainability. The children had a great time in listening and watching the slides presented. They were also able to answer and ask questions during the story-telling. After that, the children had a hands-on experience in monitoring, observing and picking up litter from the shores of Marina Reservoir. The children showed enthusiasm in picking up litters and enjoyed the activity with their peers. The program then ends of with a hands-on recycling session where children get to bring home a personal craft item made of recycled materials.
