As the end of our Start Small Dream Big 2017 project draws nearer, we have liased with our dear parents, neighbours, friends and even a restaurant in Chinatown to help collect plastic bottles for our closing event. The children, together with the help of a parent volunteer, are working together to build a dome-tunnel structure large and sturdy enough for the children (and even adults too) to play with during the closing event.
Our school’s Start Small Dream Big 2017 project has instilled environmental awareness to our children. The children has shown care and concern in their surroundings and became more observant toward theirs and their families’ habit in managing their refuse at home or outdoors. They became creative thinkers and came up with different ideas on upcyling recyclable materials.
The children understood that simple acts like reusing plastic bags, bringing a water bottle along instead of buying bottled drinks and even just by throwing their rubbish in the rubbish bin makes a big difference in keeping our surroundings clean.
It is indeed effective to start small and dream big for a cleaner Singapore, together.
