During the June school holidays, our MK children collected recyclable materials such as pieces of cardboard, chopsticks, plastic bags and rubber bands which were the craft materials needed to make the lampshades. With the materials collected, an innovative idea struck to create a beautiful heart-shaped lampshade for the elderly to have a hands-on experience.
CHILDREN AS LITTLE TEACHERS
When school reopened during Term 3, our K2 children were very eager to reach out to the community by creating a video to teach the elderly from Lions Befrienders Active Ageing Centre @ Ang Mo Kio 318 on “ How to make a lampshade with recyclable materials”. We hope these beautiful lampshades will indeed light up their family and henceforth light up the community. Our K2 children also made their very own lampshade with their families at home by using the LED tealights which they redeemed.
