During the Racial Harmony Day celebration, the children learned about the diverse cultures that coexist in Singapore and gained a deeper appreciation for the different customs and traditions that each races’ practiced. Children were engaged in traditional games and hands-on learning experiences that allowed them to discover the cultural significance behind each activity, fostering active participation.
Throughout the celebration, the children’s sense of wonder and curiosity flourished as they explored and discovered new things at the different booths. They developed an appreciation for the cultural heritage of various ethnic groups.
At each booth, children enjoyed a range of interactive activities, such as creating art and crafts, food tasting, playing games, and experiencing their traditional songs and music where they sing and dance along with their peers.
Children were amazed by the variety of delicious snacks at the Indian & Malay stalls. They got to try some tasty teas at the Chinese booth too.
Children work with one another as they explored various games from different booths. The teachers first demonstrate on how each activity supposed to be done. Through these activities, the children developed a sense of identity as they value themselves and others, most importantly how they see themselves in society.
Children actively participated in various ethnic music and dance activities, particularly enjoying the Tinkling dance from the Philippines. They learned to count their steps before jumping in and out of the bamboo poles. They also sang together in harmony, performing songs that celebrated racial unity.
