Using the paper we have made, we designed posters advocating the 3Rs and healthy environmental habits. The children drew inspiration from the books and videos that they were exposed to in the previous week and came up with meaningful messages. Some of the posters consisted of children’s drawings - a picture of a boy recycling / things that can be recycled, while other posters conveyed messages such as, “We do not throw rubbish in the sea!”, “Save the earth”, “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” and “We do not recycle food”.
Hard at work! The children are working on their posters.
Putting the posters around the school.
Posing with the posters that we’ve just put up!
To further reduce wastage, we made small bookmarks with the remaining handmade paper. These bookmarks were also designed and decorated by children to be used as a token of appreciation for our community outreach segment would be given out in our next step to this project.
The children making the bookmarks. Some wrote a short and sweet ‘Thank you’ whereas some drew things related to the environment like trees, flowers and even the planet earth.
We look forward to our next milestone of this project, “Reaching Out to Neighbours” where the children would be collecting recycled materials from their neighbours. Happy Recycling!~
