The Start Small Dream Big launch party was successfully held on 5th of April 2017 (Wednesday) at Star Learners @ Hougang. The K1 & K2 children were introduced to this year’s SSDB project about recycling “TRASH to TREASURE: Bring out the TRUE COLOURS around you!”
This project aims to promote the value of appreciation towards everything around us, whether it’s big or small, a treasure or a trash. It also opens opportunities to children, teachers and parents to give a helping hand to save the environment in their own unique and creative way.
The children enjoyed listening to the story of the “Karung Guni Boy” who used the recycled materials that he collected from his neighbours and designed a robot.
The opening of the “RECYCLING BOXES” signified the start of collecting recyclable materials to help and make the environment clean.
The children also made their pledges to help keep the environment clean. They pasted their pledge cards (handprints) on the “PLEDGE BOARD”.
The children were then invited to the various game stations to have some fun and interesting games. Recycled materials were used to create these games such as “Bin that Trash”, “Ping Pong Maze”, “Marble Maze” and “Toss the Ring”.
The party ended with a treat of snack and drinks for the children.
We had a blast! It was a fun filled day for everyone!
