As we learnt the vibrant past of Singapore, we integrated different activities in our lesson such as games, role playing and art and crafts.
They also learnt the prominent personalities who helped build Singapore like Sang Nila Utama, Stamford Raffles, and Lee Kuan Yew.
- The children played a relay game as we learnt about “Coolies”.
- The children also learnt that Singapore used to be a ‘Fishing Village’ and that the people live in Kampong Houses. Then, with their creativity, they planned and drew their Kampong House and Sampan Boat.
The children used clay to make a low-relief sculpture of their Kampong House and Sampan Boat.
The children helped each other in assembling thier bottle sculpture.
The children showed their creativity as they made their Samsui Woman and Coolie ‘Bottle Sculptures’ using modeling clay.

With integration of arts and games, the children showed great engagement in learning about the past of Singapore. It has been a fruitful journey and a wonderful learning experience for the children.
