MULBERRY LEARNING @ MARYMOUNT SSDB 2021

Empowering & Enriching Through Digital Technologies

This year, we partnered with Ren Ci Nursing Home to help raise funds for the elderly, and to  enrich and entertain them through virtual workshops and performances. Due to the COVID-19 limitations, we had to conduct our meetings virtually via Zoom.

We also conducted virtual workshops to boost School-Family collaboration and encourage family bonding time.

Workshops were carefully curated to allow children to hone their fine motor skills.

Through the workshop sign-ups, we managed to raise a sum of money and impart the skills and knowledge to our little ones. With the skills they have attained, they then conducted their own workshops with the seniors of Ren Ci Nursing Home.

Our children re-enacted and conducted Virtual Workshops with the elderly via Zoom. They guided the seniors on how to link up the chains and create their DIY chain masks.

Children demonstrated their bilingual proficiencies as they communicated with the seniors of different ethnicities. The session was interactive and fun! Both residents and our children have benefitted greatly from it.

We also conducted seperate virtual meetings with the residents of Ren Ci Nursing Home @ Irrawaddy Road and Bukit Batok St. 52.

They were given a virtual school tour in order to get to know us better and our children showcased a variety of performances to them.

Apart from raising funds through virtual workshops sign-ups, we also held an upcycled art auction campaign in conjunction with our Mother’s Day celebration.

Using common household items and some recycled materials, children created bouquets of plastic flowers with the help of their Teachers. The plastic cups were designed by the children and melted to different shapes. The melted flowers were then attached to wooden chopsticks and secured together with construction paper and raffia strings.

As mulberrians, we are deeply committed to integrate the 12 Habits of Mind into our daily curriculum. hence. We named each unique bouquet after each strengths under our Habit of Mind curriculum.

The bouquets went up for an auction and were snapped up quickly. We appreciate the prompt support and involvement of our parents in this campaign.

Each recipient (Mother) was delighted to receive their Mother’s Day gift! It also created a sense of empowerment for our N2-K2s as they helped to raise the funds using their means!

The proceeds from the workshops and art auction were consolidated and we managed to raise a total of $1000.00 through the different campaigns!

Happiness comes from kindness, love and compassion.

Parents who had missed the art auction and virtual workshops were also able to contribute through other means such as donating in-kind items.

Pooling in efforts from all our parents, we check off every item in the wish list Ren Ci Nursing Home has given to us! With the contributions, we hope that it can help ease the load off the staff at Ren Ci Nursing Home whilst the elderly can also benefit from the range of items we have consolidated for them!

During our physical meet up with the coordinators at Ren Ci Nursing Home, we were presented with a DIY frame as a token of appreciation from the residents there!

With such great accomplishments and engagement from both parties, we have confirmed and secured a Long-Term partnership with the Ren Ci Hospital.

We are happy to announce that our next meetings will be conducted on events like Children’s Day and Christmas 2021! Looking forward to our next meet up!
