Keeping fit is important to our seniors as it is to the younger population. It’s vital to maintain a certain level of fitness as we progress in age. However, as we get older, we may not move much without putting a strain on our bodies. Chair exercises come in handy when one has limited mobility or finds it hard to maintain balance.
This was the focus of our virtual community outreach activity carried out in July, by our Teachers and Champs from the K1 Patience Class. After watching a dance performance by our Champs, the seniors were introduced to some simple arm stretching exercises while seated on their chairs. These exercises help keep their joints active and strengthen their muscles.
The seniors were also invited to do simple craftwork with our Champs using newspapers – tearing or cutting them into shapes and creating faces of animals. Our objective is for the seniors to have creative fun while keeping their minds and hands active. We were pretty amazed when they showed us their creation of koalas, bears and rabbits.
Our Champs were also proud to showcase their creations to the seniors virtually.
