Our first online activity “Let’s do Planting” with the seniors at NTUC Senior Care @ BoonLay was carried out by our K1P Champs and their form teachers, Ms Jermaine and Zhang Laoshi. This was also in conjunction with our centre’s celebration of “Earth Day 2022”. Earth Day is an annual global event that raises the awareness of caring for the Earth. Everyone, regardless of their age, can do their part! The pots used in the planting activity were recycled yoghurt bottles and milk cartons collected by our centre.
In view of the Covid-19 safety measures, we met the seniors at the NTUC SAC online via zoom. Our Champs shared their ideas with the seniors on how they could protect the earth, for example: do not litter, do not waste water, food and paper, take public transport and switch off the lights when not in use. With guidance from their teachers, our Champs planted an Indian Borage plant in class while the seniors followed the instructions and planted theirs at their end. Our Champs also brighten up the day for the seniors by performing a dance and song.
On the other hand, our K2C Champs created some Earth Day cards for the seniors @ NTUC SAC which were delivered by our principal prior to the online activity.
It was a great start to our collaboration with the NTUC SAC and there are more activities in the pipeline.
