As part of Skool4Kidz @ Sengkang Riverside Park collaboration with the National Library Board (NLB), the Mini Molly Bus visited our campus on the 13th March 2023, Monday. Our K2, K1 and N2 classes took turns to visit the mobile library! Mini-MOLLYs were set up to reach out to a wider group of children aged 6 and below. Bringing the library experience to children in childcare centres and kindergartens, the mini-MOLLYs serve preschools under the Anchor Operator Scheme and the Partner Operator Scheme (run by the Early Childhood Development Agency) as well as children from lower-income or disadvantaged households.
The children were very excited to hop onto the bus. They waited patiently outside with their library cards and and. A recycling bag for MOLLY’s visit!
The children eagerly browsed through the books as they lounged at the back of the bus. The children explored different genres of books from fiction to non-fiction in the bus. The teachers sat down with the children to have a story telling session of a book chosen by the class. The children listened intently during the storybook reading session.
After browsing the plethora of books in MOLLY, the children chose a few to borrow and bring home. They queued up and waited patiently in line to borrow their books. The children experienced a step by step process of what it is like to borrow the books, starting from scanning the books, scanning their library card, receiving a loan receipt and packing them into their recyclable bags to bring home.
You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book! Happy reading!
