At Moral Child Development Centre (MCDC), we encourage children the adoption of recycling to preserve precious primary resources and not generate more waste. Hence, we have garnered the support of parents to cultivate the habit of recycling with our children. Every third Monday of the month is MCDC Recycling Day. Children are encouraged to bring recyclable items such as paper, plastic and metal to school. Teachers and children will drop the clean recyclables into the communal blue bins in our neighbourhood.
A briefing with K1 Kind pupils by Teacher Lin about the Theme for Start Small Dream Big, 2022 - Recycling and Zero Waste.
K1 Kind pupils started to bring Recyclables items to school and be involved in the SSBD project.
The pupils were very excited and felt that each and everyone of us must do our part to save our only Planet Earth.
Like the saying from Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
Once a month, they would walk to the nearest Recycling Bin with high spirits to save the Earth.
They learned that not everything could be recycled and remembered the 3R very well - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle ♻️.
“Recycle rocks! Let’s go!” We would say this every time before we started our short journey to the much loved Blue Bin.
Every time they deposited their Recyclable items in their favourite Blue Bin, they would say to the item, “Bye for now… You will be transformed to a new material. Come back looking new and useful”.
The boys’ wish to see the metal cans to be transformed into toy cars.
The day that they had the opportunity to capture a photograph with the real Recycling Truck as the background, was so memorable that they could not stop sharing about the experience at school.
“See you as a new you soon!” was said as they bid goodbye to their Recyclable items.
