The year 2020 may be considered as an unforgettable one due to the COVID19 outbreak that has put lives and economies in every country into a downfall. For others, it’s a devastating year; for some, it’s a year where true resilience, cooperation and unity is tested.
This year, our children came together and decided to focus on spreading kindness amidst the pandemic. Through kindness, we show that we can be one in fighting this battle against the virus. Hence, last 22nd June, we launched our SSDB 2020 project with the theme “Footprints of Kindness in People’s Hearts.”
The children stroke a pose beside their “Thank You” posters and SSDB banner to welcome everyone on their journey.
Due to safe distancing measures, the launch party was conducted separately by each class. The teachers and children talked about the COVID19 situation in Singapore and their roles to fight it even in their own simple ways. They also recognized the frontliners who help to make Singapore a safe country by creating “Thank you” posters.
The children were introduced to the new journey that they’ll be embarking on this year.
The centre also invited a K2 parent who works as a nurse, through a video call to share how COVID19 affects our bodies. She also discussed what healthcare providers do to fight COVID19. The fruitful talk was an eye-opener to the roles of frontliners during the pandemic.
Everyone listened attentively and even took down notes for later’s discussion.
After the sharing, they offered their token of appreciation by giving the poster to the mummy.
