On 25 April 2019 (Thursday), our children joined Preschool Market for “Eco Kampung Carnival 2019” at Bayfront Pavilion, Gardens By The Bay as one of our “Start Small Dream Big” 2019 Projects.
Eco Kampung Carnival is held to educate children on green habits. The idea is to teach children about eco-friendly habit and on importance of keeping our Earth healthy through various fun activities. Also, to create awareness about common environmental issues like conservation of water and electricity; and needs to grow more plants.
In Bayfront Pavilion, children joined Preschool Market for some earth-friendly, hands-on activities and get set for learning trails to Singapore’s Heritage Gardens. Besides, children also attended the following activities at Bayfront Pavilion.

SSDB Card Children decorated their card using dry plants and writing tools.

Storey-telling with book titled “The Garden Curious” by Peter Brown
- After story-telling, the children decorated cardboard before putting it up to cover the “Rome”.

Butterfly Headgear - Children used the recycled materials to make headgear and decorated it.

Terrarium Making by Love Terrarium - create a garden in a recycled bottle. They would also learn that Terrarium is an ecosystem and the plants live in the bottle.

Our Significant Places in Singapore - Children made their artworks using recyclables.
The children alighted at Meadow, “Gardens By The Bay” and then walked to Bayfront Pavilion for joining the carnival. Children enjoyed the learning trails while they were heading to the destination.
“We are listening to story-telling under the ‘Skeleton’ Dome Roof”.
“Preschool Market Teacher read a story ‘The Garden Curious’ (written by Peter Brown).
“We are using dry leaves to decorate the card”.
“We learn to create a garden in a recycled bottle and also, we learned that Terrarium is an ecosystem.”
“We take turn to set destination and press direction for “Moving Bee” to move to the destination.”
“We created our art works using recycled materials.”
Children used the recycled material to make their own butterfly headgear.
After making butterfly headgear, the Teachers helped children to put it on.
