LFP - Jurong East 248 launched their annual theme with a bang: “Doing Good Together: Celebrating 10 Years of Start Small Dream Big.” This milestone marks a decade of impactful projects and community spirit, showcasing the remarkable journey of young minds driven to make a difference.
Reflecting on Last Year
Last year’s initiative left an indelible mark on the participants and the community. The project centered around fundraising to support ACRES (Animal Concerns Research and Education Society), an organization dedicated to animal welfare in Singapore. Through a series of engaging activities, the kids not only raised substantial funds but also gained invaluable knowledge about animal care. They became mini-experts, fearlessly exploring parks and learning how to handle encounters with various critters. The experience fostered a deep connection with nature and a profound understanding of the importance of animal conservation.
A New Challenge: “Wild but not Free”
Building on their success, the kids at LFP - Jurong East 248 are taking on a new and urgent challenge this year. They uncovered a disturbing practice where wild animals are trapped and sold for profit—a stark violation of ethical and conservation principles. Determined to combat this issue, they have once again partnered with ACRES, uniting under the rallying cry “Wild but not Free.”
The Mission Ahead
This year’s mission is ambitious and inspiring. The children are not just raising awareness; they are actively advocating for the protection of wild animals. With a series of creative campaigns, and educational workshops, they aim to highlight the plight of these animals and promote ethical treatment.
Meet the Wonderbots
Adding an exciting twist to their mission, each participant has a trusty sidekick: the Wonderbot. These innovative companions are designed to assist the kids in their quest, providing valuable information, interactive learning experiences, and a touch of technological magic to their efforts. The Wonderbots symbolize the fusion of compassion and innovation, embodying the spirit of this year’s theme.
As LFP - Jurong East 248 embarks on this exciting journey, the message is clear: small actions can lead to big changes. By educating themselves and others, raising awareness, and taking concrete steps to protect wildlife, these young champions are paving the way for a brighter, more ethical future.
Join them in their mission and stay tuned for updates on their incredible journey. Together, we can make a difference—one small step at a time. #SSDB2024 #LFP248
