22 May 2023 marks remarkable day in the world. With this, SKC joined in celebrating the Biodiversity Day. A series of exciting activities were lined up for Beebies to Ready skoolers. They were introduced with the story, “A crab, a shell, and a little help” using big books for PG & N1 and the N2 to K2 were entertained with a short skit from the teachers, art and craft, cookery and poster making. Through these activities, the children brought greater awareness of Singapore’s biodiversity. They shared their thoughts and expressed their opinion about the world.
Through art, the children has shown awareness and wonder about things around. The N2 children participated with “Crab Head Gear.” In this activity, it enhances their creativity and fine motor skills as they practise gripping art tools like crayons, scissors and markers. The K1 children used the empty eggshell to plant seeds. While the K2 children were exposed to creating a poster to show their care and understanding about biodiversity in small groups.
Each bay gathered at the MPR for a presentation prepared by the teachers. There, they introduced a story of “A crab, a shell, and a little help”. The children were engaged in the presentation on what Biodiversity is about, and its importance. They teachers dramatized the story and the children had a sharing session, on how they would take care of the earth, plants and animals.
