On the 10th April, the centre had our SSDB lauch. This year we go with the tagline ‘Big Earth, Little Me’. The project will focus on the 3Rs - Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
The day started with the teacher reading a story Karung Guni Boy and shared with the centre children on what 3Rs were all about. The children were also shown about what happened to their rubbish after they threw in a bin.
After the presentation about the topic, the children went back to their own classroom to do different activities. The activities prepared were part of the children involvement in the project.
The Toddlers and N1 went for a neighbourhood walk to look at the recycling bin. They had opportunity to drop recyclable items into the bin
The N2 children helped in making the recycling bin for the recycling corner in the centre. They painted 3 boxes using 3 different colour - red, blue and green.
The K1 children helped to sort the recyclable items according to their materials - plastic, paper and others (metals/glass). These items were donated by the children’s families as well as from preschool market as part of the SSDB project.
As for the K2, the children did a poster on the 3Rs to spread awareness on the importance of Recycling, Reduce and Reuse. The poster will be put up at the recycling corner to remind the children as well as teachers on the impact the Earth is facing as a result of having too much waste.
The children ened their day with a gain knowledge on how they could do their part in helping to reduce the watse in Singapore. The children also looked forward to more activities as part of the project.
