This year’s SSDB theme at Artemis PreSkool @ Woodleigh is all about how we can save water!
The children loved singing the song: “Turn Off The Tap” and learning the Dance Steps! They talked about the importance of saving water and how we can incorporate this at home.
The children used the SSDB 2023 materials to bring home and were tasked to work with their parents to create a “Thank You” card for someone who has helped them, such as a grandparent or community worker. They created some beautiful cards!
The children did a Show And Tell to share their ideas to help save water and energy, and saving the earth. They created a presentation at home with their parents, which allowed them to discuss those topics at home too! Children also did a short sharing session with their friends on the things they did at home to help save water/energy/ the Earth.
In their journey of learning about water the teachers talked about where the clean water from our tap comes from. They talked about how they can save water at home and discussed with their parents at home what they can do, such as turning off the tap, using a cup when brushing teeth, take short showers.
They read the stories “Saving Caleb” and Bring The Water To Terry”, which show the importance of being mindful with water usage in a fun and educational way!
The children learned a lot during this project and brought home important messages about conserving water and energy, as well as being grateful for the clean water in our homes!
