In conjunction with NAC-AEP, the K2 children had a field trip to Thow Kwang Jungle Pottery where they discovered more on the dragon kiln. They created their own picture frames with step-by-step instructions from the facilitators. They discovered the history of dragon kiln through videos and explanations.
Together with the dragon kiln, the K2s also explored on Malay music. They were introduced to the Kompang and Angklung. They explored the sound that was produced by the instrument. The children learnt in depth of the Kompang and learnt that it is made out of goat/cow skin. They learnt the different ways to produce sounds (using the palm and using the fingers). The instructor taught them the pattern and the children were able to follow and make music.
Through this activity, the K2s learnt to appreciate Arts of different cultures and had the opportunity to explore them.
